Fishing & Hunting in Alabama

Alabama has more than 50,000 ponds and lakes, including more than half a million acres of public impounded waters. You can fish for crappie, striped and white bass, blue gill, and sunfish. Along the Gulf Coast you will find tarpon, red snapper, and king mackerel. You can go freshwater fishing year round, but will need an annual non-resident license ($31) or a 7 day license for $11.

If you love to hunt, Alabama has much to offer. There are waterfowl, small game, turkey, and deer. Non-residents need a license for deer and turkey and a Federal and State Waterfowl stamp is needed when hunting waterfowl. License cost varies by type and time, so it is best to contact the Alabama Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (1-334-242-3467) for specific information.
